the byzantina mosaic collection is a series of 4 different blends of the incomparable palette from byzantina rectangles. each blend takes its color cue from nature which is fitting given the fire, earth, water and air that is expertly used in the crafting of these remarkable mosaic surfaces. fired in kilns at extremely high temperatures -over 2000 degrees fahrenheit, the individual mosaic pieces (tessarae) undergo a second firing that seals each tessarae to their ceramic base. this allows the mosaics to be completely glazed on the surface of the mosaic and within all their artful nooks and crannies.
