we love le sol terracotta tile for its character, durability—and its design versatility.

while some are drawn to its classic motifs (star + cross for example) we’re big fans of giving this most ancient of materials the ultimate modern expression. so we’re provided you with a couple of useful blueprints for installing le sol: one for the pairing of planks and rectangles, and a second blueprint featuring the rectangle with a wide, chunky grout line.

le sol grand 2”x8” and 4”x8” mixed install

  • purchase two 84 piece boxes of 2”x8” planks, and ten 42 piece boxes of 4”x8” rectangles, for a total of 588 pieces.
  • using the alternating grout joint size of 1” and ½” shown below, the 588 pieces will create 42 of the 14 piece layouts shown below, and cover a total of 133 sqft.
  • note that the arrangement shown below can be mirrored or flipped top to bottom in order to create a random look within your layout.

note: we highly recommend your contractor do a test board for you prior to install so you can review and approve the layout.

le sol grand 6”x8” wide grout joint layout

  • purchase two 28 piece boxes of 6”x8” rectangles for a total of 56 pieces.
  • using the wide grout joint shown below of 2”, the 56 pieces will cover a total of 24 sqft.

note: we highly recommend your contractor do a test board for you prior to install so you can review and approve the layout.
