hand-hewn, historically

we’ve long admired the grand courtyards of northern europe, as well as the patinas and refined rusticity of belgian design. we lovingly restored these traditional european terracotta production processes to create a tile that would echo those elements, using a rich clay in multiple colors. suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, belgian reproduction tiles are perfect for grounding projects with an austerity as striking as any antique belgian surface.

authenticity matters

these wood-fired tiles are a symphony of variations, both surface and shade. we prize our belgian reproduction tiles for their variation and surface imperfections; these characteristics occur as a result of hand mixing their clay body, and are further enhanced during the firing process. noticeable variations in thickness, size, shade and color are all part of their handcrafted nature and heirloom look and feel.

it’s a tradition

terracotta, translated, means “baked earth.” in its best form, humble clay goes almost straight from the earth into the kiln. but we aren’t talking orange flower pots and spanish roofs; the new wave of terracotta honors its traditional production by using it as a canvas for more artistic tile endeavors. our belgian reproduction collection does just that, by reinvigorating traditional terracotta techniques for today's designs.
