Slate

the quiet moody one

our slate lives in the moody middle ground between smoky grey and soft black, with ever-so-subtle undertones of blue, green or brown, depending on your lighting. unlike other stone varieties, what you see is what you get: even-toned and raw, with no veins or streaks to be had.

Modernist Mosaic

our slate modernist mosaic is inspired by the patterns of dutch artist piet mondrian, whose iconic paintings featured the simplest of rectilinear forms — squares and rectangles. we skipped the primary colors, however. using different-sized slate, we have put together a bundle with an accompanying layout guide so you can create your own monumental, mondrianesque mosaic. step it up with contrasting grout, or go simpler with a matching shade.

clé Lapidary: Escarpment

slate is a design dark horse; it’s the stone that offers so much more than meets the eye. made from natural forces deep within the earth, its durability is only one of its selling points; its aesthetic, design neutrality and its incredible value are the others.
